You wouldn’t know it from looking at her, but Amabel Paz has not always been the fierce figure competitor you see today. There was a time she battled with depression and illness. Amabel first stepped foot in the gym at 18 years of age. When she laid eyes on a woman with muscle she knew the kind of physique that she would attain for herself. She started to train, but it wasn’t such a fairy tale of a road. After 3 children, twice gaining 50 lbs or more, supporting her husband and his deployment, and adjusting to a new area without the friends and family she was a custom to most in her shoes would not find their way again. Amabel restored her motivation and is now working to gain muscle to go after her pro card.
“Looking back at all my failures and knowing I didn’t give up. Seeing my childrens faces when I felt a failure at the time is what makes me motivated.”
Amabel has seen what’s at the bottom, but she is most proud that no matter what life has thrown at her she took it and fought back. Coming back from near defeat takes an incredible amount of heart. If you have ever seen Amabel and her crew train then you know it is all heart. She will use this motivation to gain more shoulders and continue to work on a well balanced physique.
When asked what advice she would have for someone just starting their fitness journey Amabel tells us, “Never give up on your dreams no matter how hard it may seem, even when you may be in the dark.”
Strong advice that will make you think about what your dreams are. When Amabel is not in the gym it is all about family. Her favorite past times are pretty much anything that involved the family.
